Black Maternal Health Month

Every October, I Be Black Girl (IBBG), Nebraska's first and only reproductive justice organization, proudly powers Nebraska Black Maternal Health Month. The 2024 theme, “We’re Here, Now What?” addressed the urgent disparities Black birthing people face to improve maternal and infant health outcomes in Nebraska.

As the Communications Strategist for I Be Black Girl, I led the communication efforts for the month. Below are some of the different tactics and efforts I used.

Press Conference

I Be Black Girl held a press conference at the start of October to kick off the festivities for the rest of the month.

  • Wrote news release for the press conference

  • Organized reporters to attend and cover

  • Reviewed and edited talking points for speakers

  • Assisted in contracting filming and photography crew for live streaming and content capturing

  • Assisted graphic designer in design direction and creation of print materials

Bus advertising was utilized to uplift events and learning opportunities throughout the month.
